In the periodic table, Titanium is in 22nd position with atomic number as 22. This metallic element is as strong as steel. It is 45 percent lighter. Rev. William Gregor, an English minister discovered a mineral near his house in 1791. Gregorite was the element Gregor discovered. A German chemist named Martin Heinrich Klaproth discovered the element independently and named as titanium in 1793. As a homage to the “Titans”, the original sons of the Greek gods, Klaproth named such name namely titanium. Klaproth studied ilmenite in 1797 and verified the substance Gregor had identified as titanium.

Titanium is non-toxic to humans and is non-magnetic. It also conducts heat. It is used in medical appliances namely hip and keen replacements due to these properties. With titanium exposure, the humans won’t have any difficulties in general. To humans, sometimes titanium compounds can be hazardous.
